The red onion of Tropea is the name given to the red onion grown between Nicotera, in the province of Vibo Valentia, and Campora San Giovanni, in the municipality of Amantea, in the province of Cosenza, and along the Tyrrhenian coast. Our red onion is one of the most known and appreciated vegetables in the world. In the local gastronomy are famous the onion jams and sweet and sour onions that find their use in appetizers, on bruschetta and in the case of jams the use on cheeses or cooked dishes is known.
Our jam includes the exclusive use of Tropea red onion PGI with the addition of sugar, sultanas and wine vinegar. So no ingredients that are not completely natural. Our recipe is an exclusive that derives from the self-production of this preserve that still takes place in Calabria and especially on the Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza.
