Vecchio Amaro del Capo

The symbolic product of the Caffo Distilleria is Vecchio Amaro del Capo, a Calabrian herbal liqueur, the result of an ancient Calabrian recipe then reworked and improved by the experience acquired by the four generations of the Caffo family. Vecchio Amaro del Capo embodies the active ingredients of many beneficial herbs, flowers, fruits and roots of the generous land of Calabria, infused in very fine alcohol, to help digestion and give a pleasant feeling of well-being. Among the 29 medicinal herbs that make up the infusion, we mention, for their tonic-digestive properties, some very common in Calabria such as bitter orange, sweet orange, licorice, mandarin, chamomile and juniper. Its gentle and aromatic taste is also well suited to the most delicate palates, not accustomed to "Amarissimi" and we remember that according to the best Calabrian tradition, it should be drunk iced (at -20° C. in the characteristic small glasses of the Cape) to enhance the characteristics of the particular herbs that compose it.

The Vecchio Amaro del Capo is today among the most widespread and sold amaros in Italy and boasts the distinction of being the first amaro to be offered iced by the slogans launched by the company as early as the 70s when consumption was mainly summer and was distributed only in Calabria. In 2010 Vecchio Amaro del Capo was the only Italian amaro awarded with the gold medal at the world competition in Brussels.
