Mastrogiurato was the feudal official with powers to act in jurisdictional and tax matters. In the feudal lands, very sumptuous fairs and religious festivals were managed by the Mastrogiurato, "who, hoisting the Royal flag as usual, accompanied by gentlemen and a large number of people on horseback and on foot, went there, and ended the day shooting at targets, to subsequently winning three palliums of silk cloth, which were displayed as a prize. In the evening it rose in triumph and amid shouts of jubilation the said flag was passed around the city, and then kept in the castle".
