Baked figs, preserved in honey. Honey is commonly called "mele 'i ficu", fig honey, but it has nothing in common with honey. Known already in ancient times and used as a sweetener, ficotto is a syrup that comes from the slow cooking of the sweet figs, the fruit of which the Calabrian land is lavish.
